We have been working on our 3D printed drone this summer with Monty Bryant, Connors Brother. We developed the electronics, which will enable the drone to be piloted from a computer or RC hand module, and worked on the battery system to ensure the best weight to power ratio was achieved. Being designers, it wouldn’t quite be right if we hadn’t worked on the form as carefully – and we have developed a fully 3D printable PLA casing which is yet to launch off!
Using open-source information on the web, we were able to work out most of the electronic requirements, alongside a useful Thingiverse page (Crossfire Drone) which contains most of the key information for building a drone.
You will be able to find the CAD and instructions here once we have fully tested the drone in the coming weeks. We believe in open source and would love to see people building our drone themselves!
